First images of the sky

  • Or just start with what you have! The easiest way to take photos of the starry sky is to use a camera without a telescope. You simply leave the lens on the camera body and screws the camera onto a photo tripod to get shake-free shots. The camera should be able to set an exposure time of any length. You can even use your smartphone for astrophotography if necessary.
  • Since due to the rotation of the Earth, each celestial object moves 0.25° to the west per minute, you have to guide the camera if you don't want any streaks as a result. With a 50mm lens, you can expose for about 10 seconds before a star is no longer depicted as a point. The longer the focal length, the shorter the exposure time must be.

Lucky Imaging with e.g. ZWO Seestar S50 Smart Telescope

  • Seestar S50 integrates a telescope, electric focuser, astronomical camera, dew heater, ASIAIR intelligent controller, altazimuth mount and filter wheel (UV/IR cut, duo-band, dark) into a single unit, with a body weight of only 2,5 kg. Available addons such as Wega dew shield, Wega Bahtinov mask, filter holder for external M48 filters or leveling with professional tripod can improve the setup.
  • An interesting complete automatic setup with live stacking for image creation directly as you shoot. Just put it down and get started, the telescope automatically slews to the selected object, focuses and starts the imaging sequence. You don't learn how magic happens, but with low effort you get the first quick&dirty results from DeepSky objects.

Tracked Mobile Astrophotography with e.g. Skywatcher Star Adventurer GTi

  • Set with tripod, polar finder and, depending on requirements, with different ImagingTrains. They can be upgraded as required with appropriate color/mono camera, filters, eyepieces and components for focusing (ZWO EAF), guiding and overall control (ZWO Asiair) for easy handling of hardware and software with well-matching components.
  • An ideal cost-effective plug & play setup to get started with a long-term, satisfying and successful hobby. This enables a step by step learning of all processes from the first moon image up to tracked, deepsky images with long-term exposures. And of course a professional image development with adequate software on the PC.
